The Outer Banks Hospital Development Council hosts successful Gala to Go

Due to COVID-19, for the second year in a row, The Outer Banks Hospital Development Council hosted the Gala to Go on Saturday, Feb. 12 to raise funds for the future Outpatient Cancer Center. Even though we were still not able to celebrate in-person, more than $50,000 was raised this year!  With the hospital celebrating 20 years in 2022, there has been a focus on highlighting the growth and innovation that the hospital has brought to the community over the past two decades. The hospital’s next project for growth is building a state-of-the-art Cancer Center to house all of the outpatient cancer services under one roof. The vision of this campaign, along with our team of specialists, can ensure that patients receive the highest-quality, expertly coordinated, compassionate cancer care. The success of our Gala to Go event will benefit our cancer center.

The Gala to Go featured the culinary delights of Chef Wes Stepp of Red Sky Café and NC Coast Grill & Bar. In addition to a bottle of Prosecco and a beautiful floral arrangement designed by Nancy Harvey of Holiday House Weddings & Events, Chef Wes designed an Around the World Culinary Board that featured samplings of his signature dishes. Gala to Go dinner participants enjoyed shrimp & grits, pistachio crusted salmon, NC crab cakes, shingled angus steak, roasted vegetables, and more. Delicious, fluffy beignets with chocolate and caramel sauces finished off the meal!

Leading up to the Gala to Go, the hospital partnered with Kellogg Supply Company and Pigman’s Bar-B-Que to offer the Fun In The Sun Backyard Raffle. This raffle offered one lucky winner a chance to bring their beach life to the next level! With a prize value of more than $3,500, the raffle included a grill, an outdoor furniture set, Yeti cooler, a BBQ party for 20 people, and more.
