At ECU Health Foundation, we greatly value the support of our donors, your privacy, and your trust. As part of our commitment to transparency, we wanted to share information about a cybersecurity event that occurred at one of our vendors. By now you may have heard about a ransomware attack on Blackbaud which affected numerous health care foundations across the world, including ECU Health Foundation.  Blackbaud let us know that an unauthorized individual may have acquired backup copies of databases used by its customers.

ECU Health Foundation uses Blackbaud to store information about current and potential donors. Based on internal and external investigations, names and addresses could have been obtained through the Blackbaud incident. However, it is important to note that we do not store any Social Security numbers nor credit card or bank account information with them, and Blackbaud has no access to any of our internal systems. We do not believe it is necessary to take any further action at this time.

We deeply regret this occurred and please know we remain committed to transparency and to protecting your privacy. You can learn more about what happened at Blackbaud at www.blackbaud.com/securityincident. If you have questions, please call 252-847-5626.

Thank you for helping us fulfill our vision of providing hope to eastern North Carolina. We are grateful for your generosity, which is making a difference in the lives of the patients we serve every day.
